May 30, 2009: One Saturday morning Rachael and I headed up above Fort Collins so I could do some bouldering. I’ve been meaning to post this since that morning and much later (4 months later!) I finally got around to throwing these pictures up and writing about the morning.
Just found that the Fort Collins REI is having the fall Garage Sale on October 3, 2009. I’m definitely going! I probably won’t go as crazy as I did in June (I think I spent way to much…), but I’ll definitely be looking for some good deals on clothing and gear. Maybe I’ll see you there!

Gear from REI Garage Sale (October 2009)
I was hoping for some clothes and found some, but not exactly what I was looking for. I picked up a new pair of Keen’s as my previous pair was falling apart. I also found a great pair of waterproof boots that were marked down quite a bit. Finally, there’s a pair of pants that were really cheap.
Just got back from the REI Garage Sale. This is an event where REI sells off all of their returned, display, and vendor return items for 50-75% off (or greater). I needed some gear as I’ve been hiking some more involved trails lately and wanted appropriate gear. Needless to say, I picked up some sweet gear and saved a ton of money! Details in the full post.
This year’s Memorial Day weekend was pretty busy for me, full of good times with friends and girl (Rachael!), mountain driving, and, unfortunately, quite a bit of rain. I’ve finally found a minute to write up this post. Only 4 days late, no too bad!
Over the past weekend I took part in a few exciting events. It started off with a 6 person ride around Fort Collins hitting up the local breweries on Friday. Adam, Eric (networking post-doc), Doug, Kate, Jesh, and myself took part. We started off by stopping by New Belgium but it was a bit too busy for our tastes. We skipped out there and headed straight to Odell’s. We had a few interesting conversations over a few beers (Nukes!) and then headed off to Fort Collins Brewery. Again, as is usual with our group, interesting conversations ensued. We ended the touring at Coopersmith’s with food and more beer. The night wound down at Adam’s by playing a telephone-like game that uses small drawings/descriptions on post-it notes. Adam’s crazy (but cool) neighbor stopped by and played some songs on guitar for us. It was a good start to what turned out to be a great weekend.
